Events and Engagement Coordinator Position

Job Summary

If you love planning memorable events, working with your community, and staying organized, we’d love to have you join our team as the Events & Engagement Coordinator. This role oversees Elyria Community Partnership’s signature events—including the Third Thursday series, Seasonal open houses and annual fundraising event—and supports new ideas that bring vibrancy to Downtown Elyria.

You’ll work directly with the Executive Director, interns, volunteers, board members, and partners to make events successful and impactful. In addition, you’ll help manage social media, newsletters, and communications, ensuring ECP stays connected with our community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize events in partnership with the Executive Director and Events Committee (booking vendors, coordinating with City departments, managing logistics, and handling promotion).
  • Actively connect with local businesses, partners, and community organizations.
  • Manage social media and newsletters (in collaboration with the Executive Director).
  • Track and evaluate event success to share with stakeholders and funders.
  • Support ECP’s digital presence through short videos, social media campaigns, and newsletters.
  • Help manage and mentor interns/volunteers contributing to media and events.
  • Work with the Executive Director to grow sponsorships, donor engagement, and fundraising events.
  • Coordinate with downtown businesses and organizations to build community participation.
  • Ensure all events and communications reflect principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Collect and share community feedback to improve event programming.

Skills & Preferences

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage large-scale projects.
  • Experience with social media and digital engagement.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp and Facebook Business Suite (preferred, but training available).
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with a variety of partners.
  • Ability to manage event budgets and contracts.
  • Strong communication skills, including public speaking.

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree + 2 years in event planning/community engagement OR High School diploma + 4 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and engage with the community.
